There are two unique announcement signs at Kampung Prawirodirdjan alley, close to Code River, Yogyakarta. They differ themselves from the familiar ‘Speed Up Bruise Up’, ‘Beware of Children’, and ‘Forbidden for Scavengers’, by warning departing residents not to leave their respective IDs, Driving Licenses, and registrations behind, complimentary to the traditional goodbye and save trip wishes. School Rules. To arrive at their school, students in Mekarsari Primary School, Cienteung District, Bandung Regency, are no beginner in flood penetration technique. The fact that only in 2009, 219 floods were recorded in the area, required the students to have close contacts with the filthy and diseased water. Despite this fact, their burning spirit of learning refused to die off. The education officials in Bandung should make aquatics an obligatory extracurricular subject. Who knows that the germs contained in this dampness of desperation are actually those of future skillful swimmers? Agus Bebeng | February 2010 |
