POPULATION CENSUS MURAL. In Yogyakarta, there's a mural supporting the 2010 Population Census (26/05). But what the heck does pink dogs have to do with the census? It has informality written all over, let alone it goes with the typical visual identity being used by the Population Census blue logo showing a writing man. With this limited information at hand, can we guess who did paint the mural as well as the intention behind it? What does it actually mean to you? Danu Primanto | May 2010

GO BANANAS! Citizens around Pasteur Road, Bandung initiated the planting of two banana trees in the middle of the road in order to mark a damaged portion of it to alert the passing drivers (18/5). So many drivers has fallen victim to the damage marked. The deliberate  positioning of these trees was also done to request some attention from the government, deemed responsible for the reparation of this condition. Dani Ramdhani | May 2010

BOARD NEWS. In Yogyakarta there is a board for reading newspapers, modestly constructed using zync, worn out coconut timber & was supported by a rock under its left side (07/05). Being a daily newspaper, it is the main mode for Kampung Gambiran residents on Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and global news.  The existence of this newspaper is very adventageous for its citizens in accessing information. OBAMA (NOT AGAIN!). One morning (01/05), a government-owned garbage truck with the name Obama sprayed on its container was seen in Yogyakarta. A fact so overwhelming, only one fundamental question remains: could it refer to Obama, the president, or is there any other Obamas in this country? Danu Primanto | May 2010

SLOW DOWN, GIRLS AHEAD. Usual signage tells you, "Slow down, children's playground". One of the kost areas Airtawar, Padang, shows us a different case. The signage read "Slow down..! Girls' kost area" (25/4). We can multi-interpret the sentences. First, to slow down traffic in order to avoid any accident (does it mean that girls, like children, like to play on the street?). Secondly, to inform male drivers that this is a female surrounded area, so they could slow down if some eye candies were what they desire. Siska Yuliana | May 2010
