(Again) Absurdity. Being understanding has become our basic rule of urban life. At Tebet, South Jakarta (03/08), a notification was posted, portraying how boundless our “being understanding” has become (it reads, “Awas hati-hati, banyak anak-anak kecil naik motor. Jangan ngebut, Bung”—Be careful, kids on motorcycles ahead. Mind your speed, man). If we comprehend the age regulation for driving being related to responsibility for safety, of one's own as well as others, Jakarta might not consider the notion important at all. Anyone can do anything on its street. If any bad consequence arise, all we need to do is post an announcement signage. Reza Afisina | August 2011
