Postmodern a la Medan. A restaurant, located on Jamin Ginting street, Padang Bulan, Medan, North Sumatera (18/07), serves as an example how multiple cultural references could be jumbled up to create something entirely different in meaning. Who knows how it could be called Liverpool? Maybe the owner is a supporter of the English Premier League football club, or he might even be a die hard Beatlemania. Both are the UK city main signifiers. BPK, on the other hand, refers to Badan Pemeriksa Keuangan (Indonesian Supreme Audit Board) for most Indonesians. But not in Medan, where it popularly refers to Babi Panggang Karo (Karo Roast Pork). Maybe the latter understanding is more appropriate in regards to the government agency nowadays.
