The price of a soul. This is a general portrait of public transportation condition in Tana Toraja and North Toraja regencies (08/01). Every inter-village and inter-regency public means of transport in the region normally has a conductor, who helps the driver in spotting passengers and collecting fares. Without insurance, nor any consideration for their own safety, these conductors have to perform a stunt where they dangle freely on the rear part of the car, everytime all seats are filled. Who should be responsible for their safety, when they have already sold their own lives for a fistful of cash like this? Armin Hari | August 2011
